Greek Sources: Full Implementation Expected over 12 February Deadline

It’s exceptionally hard for Greece to accept that a replacement of passports was not possible over a five-year period, Greek diplomatic sources say regarding the issuing of new travel documents in North Macedonia, adding that Skopje hasn’t contacted Athens regarding a potential extension of the deadline.

The Greek Government sources point out that 12 February, as a deadline for documents, especially passports, and licence plates on cars, was set five years ago, while Athens expects full implementation.

Regarding the three memoranda with North Macedonia, the same sources stress that they are related also to compliance with the Prespa Agreement and how it is implemented. They will be sent to Parliament for ratification at the proper moment on which the Greek Government will decide.
