Following the allegations between the Chief of the Skopje Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office, Mustafa Hajrullahi, and Chief Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski over the case concerning the bonuses for the now-defunct Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPO), the former has challenged the latter to a televised debate on MTV1 so that, as he points out, the public finds out the truth.
“Ultimately, facts speak for themselves,” he stresses.
According to Hajrullahi, Kocevski exerted pressure on him the former in the case, that is, he directly told him to be careful when it came to how he should act in the case and that the capacity of damaged party should not be given to VMRO-DPMNE, which, before Hajrullahi’s Office, has appealed the case, closed by the Islam Abazi-headed Office for Prosecution of Organised Crime and Corruption in December of last year.
Regarding Hajrullahi’s claims, the Council of Public Prosecutors will take action to determine whether there was pressure. The Chief Public Prosecutor, who has maintained he didn’t pressure Kocevski, announced on Tuesday that there would be controls within all Higher Prosecutor’s Offices.
“I cannot understand how and why there has been no control within any Office. There should have been controls twice a year within all of them. I don’t know why that wasn’t done. However, it will be carried out in the period ahead. As long as I’m the Chief Public Prosecutor, things will proceed that way and there will be results. Actions will be taken if illegal activities are determined. Control was conducted within the Skopje Higher Office. I’m waiting for the report,” he added.
