At a press-conference at around 1 pm on Thursday, Health Minister Arben Taravari stated that four people injured in the Kocani fire that had been receiving treatment in Spain and one person that had received treatment in Greece had returned. Their condition is good, but they will be under observation at hospitals domestically.
24 patients are being treated at state hospitals in the capital of Skopje, while three are receiving treatment at private clinics. Nine patients whose condition is stable will be discharged for in-home treatment, Taravari explained, adding also that nine of the 108 patients receiving treatment abroad would return later that day.
The condition of four patients is still critical. The same day, Kanal 5 organised a telethon to raise money through donations for those impacted by the fire. PM Hristijan Mickoski told the TV station the Government was doing everything to help the situation.
“Macedonia’s united. Unfortunately, united in sorrow and pain. I desire for us to be united over something nice, something that represents joy, a future”, he said during the telethon.
