History Commission Issue: Angel Dimitrov Presents Part of Bulgaria’s Red Lines

Several weeks before the new meeting of the Skopje-Sofia History Commission, the perception of Angel Dimitrov, head of Bulgaria’s team within the body, is that the new composition of North Macedonia’s team will sharpen the Skopje-Sofia tone.

In an interview with the Bulgarian public broadcaster, he presents part of Bulgaria’s red lines.

“Now, the new composition will obviously move along the line set by the new government. I will just highlight to them that they will not find in Bulgaria any historian that will say that Samuel is not a Bulgarian ruler,” Dimitrov says, adding that no historian and no person from Bulgaria’s societal sphere will say Goce Delcev is not Bulgarian either.

The new head of North Macedonia’s team, Vanco Gjorgjiev, says he will not comment on Dimitrov’s “political” statements.
