It’s still unclear which EU members can North Macedonia nationals with a passport containing the previous constitutional name go to. Despite the comments the previous day by caretaker Interior Minister Pance Toskovski, on Tuesday, Deutsche Welle Macedonian, citing diplomatic sources, reported that a passport not containing the new constitutional name couldn’t be used to enter Germany if a passenger was coming from North Macedonia or a third country.
Additional Deputy Minister Mitko Bojmacaliev expects the EU to adopt a stand on whether it will allow citizens with old passports to enter.
“Some countries are still allowing citizens to enter, whereas others don’t. I don’t want to mention names in order not to confuse citizens. What’s best is for citizens to use the Ministry’s capacities, come, and obtain a new travel document. So far, over 1.3 million citizens have replaced travel documents, which is a significant number,” he said.
