Initial Reactions to Electoral Code Changes Issue

On Monday, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and VMRO-DPMNE MP Miloshoski, who was part of the working group on Electoral Code changes, called Levica out over its refusal to sign as a proposer of the amendments, even though, as he said, a fair share of its proposals has been accepted.

Due to Levica’s refusal, the MP pointed out, the draft amendments to the Code will be submitted without the changes to Article 76-d, which concerned election advertising funds and had been inserted at the party’s request.

Levica leader Apasiev said at a press conference that his party would block the Code process if the “political discrimination” remained. The same day, SDSM leader Filipche presented serious remarks over the draft changes to the Code, saying part of the text was not in line with EU and democratic standards.
