Interior Minister Toskovski Calls on Officers to Warn, not Fine, Citizens with Driving Licences containing Previous Constitutional Name

Considering that driving licences containing the previous constitutional name and plates reading “MK” are no longer valid as of 1 January, Interior Minister Pance Toskovski has called on officers not to fine citizens, that is, to take into consideration provisions concerning warnings and indications.

“I believe no officer should issue a fine over such offences because Macedonian citizens should pay a fine for us having had incompetent politicians in the past. This period should see preventive action by police in order for us to align with the law,” he noted.

The Minister also denied some media reports that IDs, too, would no longer be valid.
