IUST Receives Decision for Accreditation of Health Sciences Faculty

International University of Struga (IUST), partially owned by Genc Merko, son of Struga Mayor Ramiz Merko, both blacklisted last year by the US, has received a decision for accreditation of a faculty of health sciences.

Previously, outgoing Education Minister Jeton Shaqiri gave the green light. The Higher Education Quality Agency confirmed the accreditation information on Thursday, adding, however, that the procedure to accredit study programmes was underway. Only after that will the new institution be able to start its work.

“The project to found the faculty of health sciences, in the frames of IUST, is being accredited, according to the Higher Education Law,” the accreditation decision of the Accreditation Board reads.

The Ministry said the same day the decision had been made because there was a need for more health workers in the country.
