Education Minister Vesna Janevska presented the governmental programme for scholarships for students from North Macedonia that will enrol in studies at one of the top universities according to the latest Shanghai Rankings.
“The public calls for these scholarships for the school year 2025-2026 are published on our website, and the deadline for applying is 12 September 2025. The Education Ministry has been implementing this measure for 15 years, but this time we have made certain modifications, especially concerning the period after graduation at one of the global universities.
After completing the studies abroad, students will then have to register at the Education Ministry in a special register (e-registar.mon.gov.mk), which will be networked with the institutions of the state, so that the students can quickly find suitable employment.
If these students manage to find a job at an international company out of the country that is registered in the Fortune Top 500 list, they will be allowed to work there no more than three years, after which they will be obliged to work in their own country for twice the time they spent on studying abroad.
If the student decides to not return to the country at all, then they are obliged to refund the state in the same amount that was paid for their studying abroad”, Janevska explained.
