The Judicial Council stated that courts and judges remain independent in the processes of determining measures against suspects, including in the case about the incident at M-NAV.
The reaction follows the situation in which the Criminal Court determined only precaution measures against the perpetrators, which prompted the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (BPPO) to file an appeal to the decision, and also resulted with negative comments by the public concerning the political independence of judges.
The Criminal Court is processing the appeal of BPPO and a final decision is expected on Wednesday 10 January, to determine whether the assailants, including former minister from DUI Bekim Neziri, will be taken into custody, or will only remain with the precaution measures.
