Kasami: Protests if Ethnic Albanian Opposition Bloc Doesn’t Get SEC Post

BESA leader Bilall Kasami said on Wednesday protests would be held if there was no State Election Commission (SEC) member from the ethnic Albanian opposition bloc. As he added, the elections legislation provides for that.

“There aren’t possibilities for calculations in this regard. The request itself by the Parliament Speaker to the opposition parties, not to Alliance for Albanians, shows the law is clear. However, the Speaker continues to cause obstructions in this regard because he has sent a letter also to parties that didn’t exist during the last parliamentary elections,” he noted.

According to Kasami, the hope is that the ethnic Albanian opposition bloc will get its SEC member before the formation of the caretaker cabinet because that is a precondition for fair and democratic elections.
