At Thursday’s debate on the draft-Budget rebalance, Chief Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski said basic funds for functioning of prosecutor’s offices would be reduced by more than one million euros. That, in his view, will compromise their regular work.
“Reduction is being proposed over all items, including also money foreseen for investigative activities, for expertise and analyses, for maintenance of vehicles required for insight. Our country is last in the region when it comes to investing in prosecutor’s offices,” he stressed.
Criticism came also from the Court Budget Council’s Silvija Janevska, who pointed to the part of the Rule of Law report, published the previous day, which says that limited financial resources allocated to the judiciary may affect its financial autonomy, and the deficit of human resources could impact the quality and efficiency of justice.
