Kocevski Says Decision to Suspend Hajrullahi Is in line with Law

Chief Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski has responded to Council of Public Prosecutors member Keti Petkova’s allegations that his suspension of Mustafa Hajrullahi represents a violation of the law and abuse of hierarchy, saying his decision to suspend the Skopje Higher Prosecutor’s Office Chief is in accordance with the law considering he’s under investigation for harassment and abuse of office.

Petkova, who also believes the suspension was impacted by the problems between the two Prosecutors, had prior to joining the Council been a lawyer in the Postenska Banka (Post Bank) case, opened by the now-defunct Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPO), one of the processes being checked because Hajrullahi’s Office withdrew the appeal, which resulted in it being stopped. However, she has said that that hasn’t impacted her views.
