Languages Law Preparatory Session to Be Held 19 June

In an interview with the Triling (Three of a Kind) show on 24 TV, Constitutional Court President Darko Kostadinovski says the preparatory session over the Law on Languages will be held on 19 June.

In his view, after that, another two months will be needed to summarise all opinions, which, most likely, will mean that the final decision will be made after the local elections in October.

However, DUI has levelled fierce criticism at the Court, saying it is no longer an independent institution, but rather an extension of the government. Such announcements, according to Ali Ahmeti’s party, mean that the document will be abolished.

“These events are revealing a bitter truth: equality and coexistence are in the crosshairs of the institutions required to protect them themselves”, DUI points out.

In response, VLEN has said Ahmeti’s party’s destabilisation plan has failed.

“DUI was ready to sacrifice Albanian only for one low price: to return to power at all costs. Don’t worry, the Albanian language is not subject to negotiations”, it adds.
