The working group that will work on the correction to the legislation concerning salaries of officials should have at its disposal all aspects because it’s about the laws regulating salaries of elected and named persons, as well as of MPs, PM Dimitar Kovacevski said on Thursday.
According to him, first, a solution should be found that will fairly valorise everybody’s work. Nonetheless, he added that the working group should first prepare the text before it was discussed.
The PM agrees with Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani’s position that politicians who say that their salary doesn’t matter to them shouldn’t be praised because that’s, in some way, like saying that they don’t live off only on the salary.
Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi, asked whether he agrees to a salary reduction, stated that, as a Government member, he would accept the working group’s decision.
The same day, the Trade Union Federation, however, called on the Government to “stop making excuses and postponing the reduction”.
