The latest tender of the government for construction of the Cebren power plant is once again unsuccessful, after all deadlines for concluding a contract with the Greek company Archirodon expired.
Environment Minister Kaja Sukova namely contacted the legal team that already worked on the project, asking them to examine the entire documentation in order to determine the further steps concerning the bank guarantees for the project.
Back in September, the government selected Archirodon to build the power plant, but in December the company demanded further clarifications about the tender, claiming that the tender and the contract for the project contained different conditions about the construction and management of the power plant.
The tender and the selection of the company were also subjected to criticism by group of energy experts from the country, who accused that through this project the country is giving concession for the water and the land where the plant was to be located to a foreign company, i.e. to another country.
The outcome of the tender makes it the 13 th unsuccessful one for the Cebren project so far.
