Leonid Indov Case: Father Appeals First-Instance Commission’s Decision

The father of Leonid Indov, Branko Indov, has appealed the decision of the first-instance commission of the Health Insurance Fund, which rejected the request to cover the costs of his son’s rehabilitation in Vienna.

According to the Fund, the incomplete consilium opinion from the University Clinic of Traumatology, Orthopaedic Diseases, Anaesthesia, Resuscitation, Intensive Care, and Emergency Centre, is the reason for the rejection.

The Fund will wait for an additional explanatory note from the Clinic on what specifically needs to be done regarding the patient and then re-examine its decision. Commenting on the case, Health Minister Ilir Demiri said on Tuesday it had been considered at the Government session that day.

“We’ve decided for me to talk to the family and familiarise them with the potential solutions to cover the rehabilitation costs so far, after which I will brief the Government on the concrete found solution,” he stated.
