Maksim Dimitrievski Trial Continues

The legal process against Kumanovo Mayor Maksim Dimitrievski, in which he is tried for abuse of official position and authorisation, following a charge filed by two construction companies based in the city in relation to non-receipt of permits to build buildings, continued on Monday. Once again, Dimitrievski said he was not guilty.

On the other hand, the lawyers for the construction companies said though the same composition of the Council and Dimitreivski had voted through a detailed urban plan (DUP), in which the investors had wanted to invest, afterwards, the Council, upon a proposal from the Mayor, had decided to suspend the DUP, which concerns a land parcel near the secondary school and the school’s outpatient clinic.

One of the owners, Boban Spasovski, said Dimitrievski had intentionally abused office. According to him, the Mayor granted neither timely construction approvals nor a calculation for payment of utility fees. The companies seek 3.3 million denars in damages.  The process will continue on 2 July.
