On Thursday, Parliament didn’t manage to vote through the new composition of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services Council. An additional date will be set for a new vote.
At the session, Levica’s representatives said the ruling majority was planning to vote through members of political parties as Council members even though that was against the law. The same day, however, SDSM leader Venko Filipce said there were no issues with the candidates.
“Those are people with proper expertise in that line of work. They are not just party people”, he stated.
However, the draft-composition has been fiercely criticised by the Association of Journalists. Among the nominated candidates is Afrona Verzivolli, known for her short-lived term as General IPA Auditor in the summer.
