Merko Trial Postponed Again

On Monday, the court process against the US-blacklisted Mayor of Struga, Ramiz Merko, in which he is charged with abuse of official position and authorisation in relation to the procurement of four vehicles, including an Audi worth around 70,000 dollars, for the needs of local authorities, was postponed again.

The decision was made because the defence submitted a vast list of evidence that the Basic Court will need to consider. The Court will also need to get certain documents from relevant institutions.

Judge Nadica Mitreska, however, said there would be no further delays, adding that the process against Merko was expected to finish within a reasonable deadline. The process will resume on 8 July.
