Mickoski: 4 People Arrested over Trubarevo Waste Fire

PM Hristijan Mickoski visited on Sunday the site of the great fire that occurred the day before at a capacity for collection of electronic and plastic waste in Trubarevo. PM Mickoski said that four personas have been arrested in relation to this fire, and that all institutions of the state are taking all necessary measures to handle the situation.

“The Public Healthcare Institute and radiation experts from the Army conducted measuring and their findings indicate that the air pollution in this area fortunately is not at an alarming level. These fires can be easily prevented with proper surveillance with drones, but in the previous seven years the government of SDSM and DUI has completely neglected this sector, and now we face all these problems.

The current government however invests efforts in handling the situation and improving the regulations and the capacities for waste management all over the country. We expect events like these to continue, because we have information that the fires are arsoned by centres of power inside our country, but from outside too”, PM Mickoski said.

From the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) they informed that they have requested several institutions to inspect the fire-affected area, and that they will disclose more details from Monday, once all analyses are complete. So far, four people sought medical assistance as a result of the fire.

They were taken to the Toxicology Clinic in Skopje with pulmonary obstructions caused by the thick smoke from the fire, and three people were discharged and given instruction of further treatment at home, while one woman was hospitalised, but doctors reported that her condition is not life-threatening.

Due to the presence of smoke and odour in Trubarevo, the Ministry of Education issued orders for the four primary schools in that area to hold online lessons in the following week, until the smoke clears and the danger over children’s health passes.
