Opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski has reiterated his stand that a caretaker cabinet is not a response to the needs of citizens, that it doesn’t contribute to a better future of the country, and that the concept should be abolished.
He believes that interventions are needed to both the Law on Government and the Electoral Code for the concept to be ended. On the other hand, PM Dimitar Kovacevski’s position is that the only way to abolish the concept is by consensus, that is, in the same manner it was introduced as part of North Macedonia’s legislation. Currently, there’s no such consensus.
The PM hasn’t revealed when the meeting for an elections date will be held. In his view, the format would see leaders of parliamentary parties and Speaker Talat Xhaferi, as a host, participate.
