Commenting on US President-elect Donald Trump’s decision to announce Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick as his pick for secretary of the Department of Commerce, PM Hristijan Mickoski said on Wednesday he expected positive moments with regards to the Skopje-Washington cooperation. According to him, Lutnick will provide additional value to the American, global, and, consequently, North Macedonia’s economy.
“Yes, you remember that Mr Howard Lutnick was here in Skopje, at the Government building. We talked about a lot of topics. We have a personal friendship. Sure enough, I expect only positive moments from our future inter-country cooperation as strategic partners. I am convinced that he will bring additional value not only to the American economy, but also to the world one, which will also mean a positive for the Macedonian economy.
Certainly, I extended congratulations and expect only added value. You remember when they [Lutnick, Rumble founder and CEO Chris Pavlovski, and ex-Congress member Devin Nunes] were here, at the Government building, as guests, there were some who didn’t comment on that quite positively. It’s good that we, as the government, have friends in the most powerful economy in the world, the American economy. We have the person at the helm who heads the most powerful economy in the world, with a GDP of more than 28, 29 trillion.
As I said, I am convinced it can bring only positive news for Macedonian entrepreneurs, but also for Macedonian citizens,” the PM stressed, adding that there were now too a big number of US companies that were already present with investments in North Macedonia, employed citizens, and manufactured “Macedonian products that are applied on the American market”.
Mickoski also said that when it came to a plan for American investments in the future, there was a big number of partnership relations as well.
