In the capacity of National Council on Development President, PM Hristijan Mickoski opened on Monday the second session of the body. Corruption was one of the topics he discussed in his address.
“Corruption and fighting crime is what we must pay attention to and what represents one of the most serious problems. For too long, the country’s faced spread corruption that hasn’t been punished, while, in some way, the system itself creates a culture of corruption.
We inherited institutions where it is normal to offer amounts at tête-à-têtes, bribery, and to corrupt servants or at least to try to corrupt servants. And they’re surprised when they are rejected, when they are reported, when people that are not corrupt take office,” he stated, adding that that inglorious legacy was a sad reality that had to be changed.
The PM also talked about a merit system where a person’s abilities, knowledge, and quality of vision will be the only criteria for their progress.
