According to VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, ruling parties want to avoid elections at all costs because, as he says, they are aware they will lose.
Though his party’s not part of the working group for Electoral Code changes, Mickoski’s position is that deadlines are nearing, which may result in a constitutional crisis. The opposition front from the ethnic Albanian bloc, Alternativa, BESA, and Democratic Movement, is asking to have a member in the frames of the State Election Commission (SEC).
That’s a precondition for the elections to be fair and democratic, BESA’s Fadil Zendeli points out. According to him, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, in the capacity of OSCE Chairperson- in-Office, tried to impact the decision on the number of election process observers.
