Mickoski: VMRO-DPMNE not to Support No-Confidence Motion against Gashi

VMRO-DPMNE will not support the no-confidence motion against Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi, party leader and PM Hristijan Mickoski said during a visit to Negotino on Wednesday.

Mickoski doesn’t see a reason for Gashi to be replaced.

“The way he behaves as the Speaker, the way he runs sessions, and everything going on there represents seriously different behaviour when compared to what his predecessor [Talat Xhaferi] would do,” the PM stated.

He also stressed that the “SDS[M]-DUI-Levica coalition” had its own motives to file the motion.

“I suppose they find this coalition and politicians such as [DUI’s] Artan Grubi, Talat Xhaferi, Bujar Osmani, and Ali Ahmeti better than the current state. However, I don’t think that is so, which is why we will not support the motion,” he stressed.

The same day, regarding Gashi’s use of an official vehicle to go to a wedding in Kosovo, VLEN co-leader and First Deputy PM Izet Mexhiti described the Parliament Speaker as a very modest man.

According to him, Gashi didn’t want to have a security detail so big, but the protocols required that the security measures cover his whole family.

“He cannot change those security protocols because the state, not individuals, decide on that,” Mexhiti added.
