Milanovic Critical of EU’s ‘Inertness’, Siljanovska Davkova, too, Sends Message

At the Brdo-Brijuni Process Leaders’ Meeting in Montenegro on Tuesday, leaders sent a joint message that the EU was incomplete without the Western Balkans. Also, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic criticised the EU’s “inertness”.

His counterpart from North Macedonia, Gordana SIljanovska Davkova, stated that the waiting room of the EU called “the Western Balkans” could be emptied only in two ways, that is, “through integration of these countries from the region into the EU or through emigration of people, especially youth, who are tired of their wait when it comes to their respective countries’ EU membership and get integrated in the quick procedure, through a shortcut, not rarely with the help of another country’s passport”.

Once again, the President said that all countries needed to be treated equally and progress towards the EU needed to be a result of meeting criteria and implementing reforms related to the EU acquis.
