Minister Murtezani Signs MoC with Stefanishyna and Meets Szlapka during Visit to Kyiv and Warsaw, Respectively

On Saturday, European Affairs Minister Orhan Murtezani, during a visit to Kyiv, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) related to EU integration with Ukraine’s Deputy PM for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Olga Stefanishyna.

“North Macedonia supports Ukraine’s EU path, while this visit confirms our common aspiration when it comes to European values. The EU accession process shouldn’t be exclusive, but rather inclusive and merit-based, enabling both Ukraine and the Western Balkans fair chance for progress. Unity and solidarity between our peoples are key to building a strong and united Europe”, Murtezani noted.

The MoC covers areas such as legislation, judicial reforms, promotion of European values, and fighting corruption and organised crime. Regarding the Russian aggression, he said North Macedonia, as a member of NATO, would align its position with the strategies and decisions that would be made by the Alliance.

Previously, during a visit to Warsaw, Murtezani had met Polish EU Affairs Minister Adam Szlapka.

The meeting saw a discussion on the Polish EU Presidency’s priorities, with special focus on strengthening the EU perspective of Western Balkan countries, Murtezani’s Ministry said in the press-release.

“Minister Murtezani highlighted North Macedonia’s hitherto achievements in the accession negotiations with the EU and highlighted the importance of support from members to further advance the integration process”, the European Affairs Minister stated.
