North Macedonia’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday again that at the meeting the previous day with Bulgaria’s Ambassador, Zhelyazko Radukov, over the absence of the flag of North Macedonia during President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova’s visit to Sofia, concern had been expressed over the deviation from the agreed-upon protocol.
“We clarify that Ambassador Radukov was verbally familiarised with the whole content of the demarche. His refusal to accept it doesn’t mean the messages conveyed at the meeting are of different or lesser importance,” the institution added.
Asked about the demarche issue, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said Radukov had explained again that Siljanovska Davkova’s visit had been private, which was why, according to protocol, there was no need for, inter alia, North Macedonia’s anthem to be played and the country’s flag to be present.
