Before he became part of PM Hristijan Mickoski’s security detail, Angel Samarakov had faced several petitions over his work as a police officer and inspector, the Interior Ministry has confirmed for Telma.
From September 2020 to December 2024, four petitions were filed before the Ministry’s Internal Control Department. Two of them, it was determined, were founded, which resulted in the Department filing proposals to determine accountability for a violation of the work order and discipline.
The Ministry didn’t reveal how the disciplinary proceedings ended. However, a decision was made for Samarakov to join the Sixth Directorate, that is, to become part of the security detail.
On Wednesday, Mickoski said, most likely, Samarakov had been assigned to be his driver and bodyguard in the period when he’d become the PM. Even during his time as member of the PM’s detail, Samarakov was part of the Police Trade Union’s leadership. In that capacity, he met VMRO-DPMNE MPs in the legislative house in November.
