MP Milososki Says Dameva’s Term as Council President Should End 5 December

Even though Sasko Georgiev headed the Judicial Council for eight months, VMRO-DPMNE MP Antonijo Milososki believes that Vesna Dameva’s two-year term as the President of the body should end on 5 December.

“Now, part of the Council’s members, together with Dameva, are trying to give the Council President a bonus, eight-month, extension of her term in compensation for the period in which she was dismissed from that position in contradiction with the Rules of Procedure in April 2023.

This illegal conclusion was adopted, with nine votes in favour, at the closed meeting of the collegium at the Council on 25 November 2024. This conclusion is in contradiction with Article 8 of the Judicial Council Law and is also ungrounded because the December 2023 Administrative Court ruling abolished the Council’s decision that hadn’t been in contradiction with the Rules of Procedure”, Milososki points out, adding that the abolition means that the decision doesn’t produce legal effect.

However, in response, Dameva says that the word “extension” cannot be used because of Georgiev’s eight-month term. Also, she claims that the Council didn’t make a decision.

“We had a discussion on when my term will exactly end because there are two decisions on my dismissal, with a different date in 2023. Over the legal matter regarding the duration of the term, though Council members had their own stand, legal experts and prominent ones from the field of law were consulted. So, the stand of the majority that the term needs to be factually executed for two years went on to be confirmed.

It is known well to the public that I haven’t factually held the post of Council President for two years, so, out of respect for the public and you, journalists, I considered it necessary to notify over these circumstances, placed by individuals who obviously take issue with me heading the Council,” Dameva stresses.

Her term as Council member ends in December 2025.
