Mucunski and Blanar Address North Macedonia’s EU Path and Enlargement

North Macedonia is seeking a way out of the European impasse through intensified diplomatic engagement with Brussels and EU members, but there have so far been no guarantees that a solution will be found regarding the dispute with Bulgaria and the blockade of the European integration process.

Foreign Minister Mucunski reassures that several European partners are willing to help find an acceptable solution, but warns that his country will not accept a compromise that merely unblocks the country temporarily while opening the door to new conditionalities over the long term.

Strong support for North Macedonia’s European path has also arrived from Slovakia. Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar, who paid an official visit on Thursday to Skopje, where he met with Mucunski, said there was no room for double standards in the enlargement process.
