According to Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski, the desired scenario for North Macedonia is Bulgaria getting a stable government. Otherwise, he said on Monday, it will be difficult to reach a compromise benefitting Skopje.
Both Mucunski and European Affairs Minister Orhan Murtezani are of the opinion that North Macedonia must fight for a principle that will protect state interests instead of quickly making the constitutional changes to start EU negotiations, for which it is not known whether they will end.
According to the new cabinet, Brussels hasn’t completely rejected the stand that the constitutional changes should enter into force once the country joins the EU, which is why the authorities’ strategy is to continue to actively communicate with international partners.
