On Thursday, before the Informal meeting of the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Gymnich), Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski said his country had been treated unfairly and faced double standards.
“If anyone has been treated, I would say, unfairly and with double standards, it is the country that I represent here today. But what we have seen is a renewed spirit within the European Union focused on enlargement. What we need to see in practice is closing of what I call a ‘gap’. A gap between created expectations and delivery on the other side. A gap that obviously exists at this moment.
What I can tell you representing my nation is that we will be committed to reforms. We will be committed to harmonization with the acquis. We will be committed to the Reform Agenda which is an integral part of the Growth Plan. But at the end of the day, we do expect Brussels as well as the Member-States to deliver on a very clear commitment that was made towards the Western Balkans many, many years ago”, he stated.
