A citizen of Albania, Izet Shulku, and several other fellow climbers, several days ago, on the peak of Korab, replaced North Macedonia’s flag with that of Albania. “Korab belongs to Albania. There is no place there for the Macedonian flag,” Shulku said in a post on his Facebook profile.
At Golem Korab Peak, which belongs to Mavrovo National Park, there is a sign containing a sticker, in Macedonian, saying, inter alia, that the Korab mountain massif is in two countries, North Macedonia and Albania. However, Shulku tore it and threw it away.
On Monday, LDP condemned the incident, adding that it expected liability and reaction from all sides.
“Only through joint condemnation and taking of measures can we prevent similar incidents in the future,” the party stated.
