On Tuesday, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg started his visit to North Macedonia. At the Skopje airport, he was welcomed by Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska, who described North Macedonia as a committed and proven Ally.
Afterwards, Stoltenberg held a meeting with Kovacevski. As North Macedonia’s Government said in the press-release, at the meeting, the role of North Macedonia as an appreciated Ally and member of the Alliance that contributes significantly to the achievement of NATO’s goals was confirmed.
Secretary-General Stoltenberg and PM Kovacevski held a joint press-conference, too. “NATO can rely on North Macedonia and North Macedonia can rely on NATO,” the former said.
As he added, the Alliance guarantees North Macedonia’s security. Regarding Russia, he said NATO didn’t see any imminent military threat against any NATO member.
PM Kovacevski stated that according to information being exchanged with NATO members, there was no threat to North Macedonia’s security and stability. The NATO Secretary-General also met with President Stevo Pendarovski and Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi.
