The bribe attempt PM Hristijan Mickoski claims happened over the rail link towards Bulgaria was offered by companies that had applied to implement the project, according to Transport Minister and Deputy PM Aleksandar Nikoloski.
He said on Thursday that the majority of them had been unserious and intermediaries of theirs had tried to win the process by bribing.
“Seven participants have applied. The majority of them, I must say, are unserious. No participant from a serious EU member has applied for this call. I think that speaks volumes about the companies that are participating. Yes, those companies think that through intermediaries of theirs they can bribe me, the PM, perhaps the members of the evaluation commission,” he stressed.
In the meantime, members of the commissions tasked with selecting the company in charge of construction and supervision have been withdrawn.
They represented the Ministry and Railways of North Macedonia PE for Railway Infrastructure.
