There are nine active wildfires in the country, Crisis Management Centre Director Stojance Angelov said on Thursday afternoon.
The situation is still most serious in the Makedonski Brod region. The previous day, Angelov, together with Hungary’s Ambassador, Andras Klein, had visited the Hungarian specialised fire-fighting unit in Belica.
Angelov expressed great gratitude to Hungary and praised the individual contribution of its fire-fighters. Regarding the fire caused on 21 July after a Gorno Orizari resident had set fire to old car seats at an illegal landfill, the person has been sentenced to five months in prison.
