With 72 against and 21 in favour, the Parliament of North Macedonia rejected the no-confidence motion filed against PS Afrim Gashi by the MP group of the political party Levica.
During the discussion over the motion, Levica leader and MP Dimitar Apasiev elaborated why their MP group filed the no-confidence motion. Apasiev explained that the no-confidence motion is based on seven points.
“First, Gashi violated the secularity of the state by organising a prayer in the Parliament, then there is the Skopje airport incident with the President of Kosovo, then we have the violation of the rules and laws for use of Macedonian language, as well as the flag, coat of arms and anthem of Macedonia, then there was the fact that he did not conclude the mandate of previous PS Talat Xhaferi, also the fact that his wife was part of the state delegation in Washington. Today we will see whether VMRO-DPMNE will allow you to go unpunished for these serious violations,” Apasiev said.
Responding to him, PS Gashi said that the Parliament is the right place for him to provide rapport before the citizens.
“I have nothing to hide. I will only ask who really benefits from this motion of no-confidence? It is filed by Levica, a political party that is supposed to ideologically unite the citizens with theories of equality, but instead, they go on to profile rather mor right-oriented policies, which degrade our aims for Euro-Atlantic integration, damage the relations with our neighbours. The motives behind the motion are purely political, and the text itself is full of Albanophobia and Islamophobia. This is not a motion against PS Gashi, but against his ethnicity and religion, as well as against the strategic interests of the state,” Gashi said.
