North Macedonia Takes over Adriatic-Ionian Initiative Presidency

North Macedonia has taken over the Presidency of the Adriatic Ionian Initiative. The main priorities are: new instruments to strengthen cross-border collaboration, modernisation of infrastructure and digitalisation that will connect people and secure social cohesion, and prevention of youth emigration as a European problem, not just as a Balkan one.

At a forum in Crete, European Affairs Minister Orhan Murtezani stated that a European future couldn’t be built without ensuring one where people lived.

Greece’s representatives avoided giving an answer to the question as to how regional collaboration would be strengthened considering that even since the signing of Prespa, significant infrastructure projects and bilateral agreements had been fully halted. However, they sent encouraging messages with regards to youth.
