Opposition and Government Trade Accusations over EU Path

Thursday’s Q&A session of Parliament saw NSDP MP Goran Misovski allege VLEN had broken its pre-election promise regarding the EU path. He asked European Affairs Minister Orhan Murtezani whether he was virtuous enough to fulfil his promise that VLEN would leave the cabinet if the constitutional changes weren’t made.

“Arben Taravari was saying it would have been done by December-January, Izet Mexhiti was saying it would have been done by December, while you were much more optimistic than your two coalition partners and were saying that either the changes would have been made by December or you would leave the government”, the opposition MP stressed.

However, Murtezani stated that he had never made such a statement and that there had perhaps been a mistake with the translation of comments he’d given in Albanian.

“I’ve never said that we will leave the government if the constitutional changes are not made by the end of the year. When we were forming the government, we weren’t doing that with one leg in and the other out”, the Minister pointed out.
