OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Osmani Meets Turkmenistan’s Meredov

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Bujar Osmani, in the frames of his visit to Turkmenistan, met with the country’s Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov.

They discussed OSCE-related topics of common interest, as well as regional affairs concerning Turkmenistan and the wider OSCE region. The Central Asia region is affected also by the economic and social instability in Afghanistan, which is another situation for which a joint response is needed in the frames of the OSCE in order for there to be risk mitigation, he assessed.

The OSCE, Osmani added, will continue to support participating States in dealing with these influences through the OSCE’s Action Framework as a response to the implications of the Afghanistan situation for the OSCE region. The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office also met Turkmenistan’s President, Serdar Berdymukhamedov.
