At the opening of the OSCE Ministerial Council on Thursday, PM Dimitar Kovacevski stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s presence didn’t represent a victory for Russian diplomacy.
“This absolutely isn’t any diplomatic victory by Russia. This is a diplomatic victory by the OSCE, considering the OSCE functioning had been called into question. With this, the OSCE will continue to function and to be a guarantee for providing development of the democratic and peaceful processes in Europe,” the PM said.
Kovacevski isn’t planning a tete-a-tete with Lavrov. The Organisation’s Secretary- General, Helga Maria Schmid, stated that the priorities of the OSCE should be support for Ukraine and combatting human trafficking and climate change. James O’Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, too, participated.
