The decision for Talat Xhaferi to be the caretaker PM is historic because the ethnic taboos and monopolies have been broken for the first time, with no ethnic group being favoured over another, DUI’s Bujar Osmani assessed on Saturday.
“When Xhaferi was elected Parliament Speaker, there was a real coup. When he was elected the second time, it was no novelty because the monopoly in terms of an ethnic Albanian being Parliament Speaker had been broken. The idea is to break ethnic monopolies,” he noted, adding that the second PM from the ethnic Albanian community would no longer be a topic.
In Osmani’s view, in the years ahead, North Macedonia will also get its first President from the ethnic Albanian community.
