Though there is just one month to go until the European Council’s Summit, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani is optimistic all conditions for a start of negotiations with the EU will be met.
“I cannot say that we’ve missed the chance. We will work until the last minute. However, it’s clear that without the constitutional changes, neither the second intergovernmental conference nor the accession process can be held,” he stated on Wednesday.
In Osmani’s view, the responsibility falls to VMRO-DPMNE. Romania’s Foreign Minister, Luminita Odobescu, who met her North Macedonia counterpart that day during the visit to Skopje, highlighted her country’s support for EU membership of North Macedonia, stressing that Skopje should use the geopolitical moment.
“We encourage you to use this chance opened for enlargement following the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” she noted.
