Osmani Says Russia has Destabilised Region in Continuity

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani responded on Friday to comments made by his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, saying it was Russia that caused problems in the region.

As he added, the US and the EU are the only ones that are actively committed to and participate in the region’s democratisation and development, as well as with regards to reducing and easing tensions.

“The Russian Federation is the one that, through latent and visible steps, through own proxy players in the region, has destabilised the region in continuity. It attempted to destabilise Montenegro through a coup attempt during the NATO integration, to obstruct our referendum in 2018 on NATO membership. It undermines processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Serbia, and, certainly, through Serbia, in Kosovo too,” he said.
