On Monday, new Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi hosted his first coordination meeting, which saw discussions mainly on the issue of forming committees and informal working bodies within the legislative house.
Parliament Secretary-General Cvetanka Ivanova, VMRO-DPMNE’s Nikola Micevski, DUI’s Blerim Bexheti, SDSM’s Oliver Spasovski, VLEN’s Halil Snopce, ZNAM’s Boban Karapejovski, and Levica’s Borislav Krmov were the other participants in the meeting.
A new session of Parliament should be held towards the end of this week to verify the mandates of the last two MPs, Gashi said, adding that the State Election Commission (SEC) had already submitted a report on the two mandates.
Regarding the committee formation issue, the participants discussed the possibility of the coming days, initially, seeing the election of a head and members of both the Political System and Legislative Committee, considering the deadlines to elect the new government are underway.
“Afterwards, as soon as possible, parties are supposed to nominate heads, members, and deputy members of all other working bodies of Parliament, according to the number of mandates won in the elections,” Parliament said.
After the meeting, VMRO-DPMNE and VLEN expressed optimism that, by double majority, the changes to the Law on Organisation and Work of State Administration Bodies would be adopted soon.
