Parliament Speaker Gashi in Interview with VoA Macedonian

In an interview with VoA Macedonian, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi described North Macedonia-NATO relations as excellent. Asked what he’d heard from the US regarding the Prespa Agreement and constitutional changes issue, he said the messages were unchanged.

“There hasn’t been some change of our partner’s stand. The US remains a strong strategic partner of ours. As the new authorities, we will want to deepen that partnership even more. Sure enough, making those constitutional changes is an obligation and challenge of ours. However, sure enough, when the time comes and under conditions that will guarantee the cultural, ethnic, and language identity of, primarily, Macedonians, but also of all citizens of the country,” the Speaker said.

Regarding Prespa, he said the stands were clear, adding that PM Mickoski had used the constitutional name during the swearing-in ceremony, which had made the matter a resolved one.

“In a colloquial approach or speech, it is up, personally, to every person what they will use,” he added.
