Parliament Speaker Mitreski Schedules Elections for 24 April and 8 May

On Wednesday, Parliament Speaker Jovan Mitreski scheduled the parliamentary elections for 8 May. That date will also see the second round of the presidential elections held, while the first will be held two weeks prior, that is, on 24 April.

The Speaker said he believed that in the election period, all relevant institutions and involved stakeholders would contribute to the country having a fair and democratic election process. The same day, Alternative leader Afrim Gashi said the European Alliance for Changes coalition, which consists of his party, BESA, and Democratic Movement, had already made a decision on its presidential candidate.

The name would be revealed in the coming days. However, Alsat and TV21 reported, citing own sources, that Alliance for Albanians leader Arben Taravari is the candidate.
