Parliamentary Elections Race: Latest Developments

The names of SDSM’s MP candidates and candidate list carriers will be known towards the end of March.

Party leader Dimitar Kovacevski said on Friday that experienced party staff and members that had in the past too held senior positions at a party and country level would be the list carriers. The same day, DUI’s Kreshnik Bekteshi made a proposal for all parties to reach a deal according to which those that will lose the elections will have to leave politics.

However, the ex-PM’s stand is that though there are wins and losses, the one that loses doesn’t always leave. According to Bekteshi, his party will definitely win the elections.

“We are issuing a challenge. All parties, including VMRO-DPMNE, are welcome. If they want, we can even make a deal,” he said, adding that DUI leader Ali Ahmeti was the only one who hadn’t lost elections.

VMRO-DPMNE said it accepted DUI’s offer because Ahmeti’s party would definitely not be part of the future government. The VLEN coalition finds it acceptable too.
